Inpatient Care Achieves Critical Access Designation
In February 2005, Cheatham County residents received county inpatient hospital care for the first time in five years. Centennial Medical Center at Ashland City became the fifth of Tennessee's small hospitals to achieve designation as a Critical Access Hospital (CAH).
CAH is a federal program designed to ensure rural populations have access to local hospital care. Under CAH, Centennial Medical Center at Ashland City maintains 8 inpatient beds to treat patients will non-life threatening illnesses.
In addition to this level of service, the hospital also offers round-the-clock emergency room services, basic labs and an emergency blood bank. Additionally, the facility provides radiology, endoscopy, fluoroscopy, CT scanning, ultrasound, mammography/imaging services and outpatient surgical services.
